Quest fun run weekend October 14-15th, 2023
Friday and Saturday night we will be staying at Alberts Lodge on mt Mitchell. You can stay anywhere else as its up to you and nothing happens at Alberts per say but its a great place to stay and close to both runs. Not to mention has an epic views. Paul Tilley will be leading the training runs both days. Come hang with us and take in the fall colors from the HIGHEST mountain range EAST of the Mississippi.
All paces welcome. We will do a briefing of the route each am at the trailhead but you have the routes below on GPS links.
Saturday October 14th
13 ish mile loop with lots of views. 4500 ft gain same loss

Meet at Colberts Ridge Trailhead at 8 am. IT is a loop that we will stick together the first mile on the road to the buncombe horse trail trailhead. Then we head up the long climb to take a right onto Big Tom Gap trail. This is 800 ft in a half mile. Then its a right on the Crest Trail (not on our race course) then along the black mountain crest until you plunge down from 6400 ft some 3700 ft back down to your car at the bottom of Colberts ridge trailhead. This takes 3-6 hours from front of pack to back of pack. You need to be self sufficient and bring layers / water filter.

Black Mountain Campground to Mitchell Summit and back.
3800 ft gain same loss in 11.5 miles
