COURSE ROUTE
WHAT TO EXPECT

We will park everyone at the parking area then walk down to the paved road and start at the very bottom of the gravel driveway road. The race will start there.
From the start it’s immediately uphill. It’s about a 0.3 miles with 175 ft gain to the trailhead then it’s onto single track.
That climb to the top can be divided into 3 sections.
Bottom, middle and top.
All of these sections gain a lot of elevation.
The bottom:
The bottom of the climb isn’t too bad but has some rocky bits. It’s the most gradual of the entire mountain and you have fresh legs.
It even has some flatter sections.
The middle:
This likely has the steepest and most technical bits of the mountain however there are some sections for 30-100 ft where it gets flat and even a small downhill in a section.
Below the old heli pad it’s very very rocky and one section you might need to use your hands to maneuver up. From the old helipad it’s .1 miles of 35% grade aka the steepest part.
Eventually you turn right onto a gravel road thus entering the top section
Top section:
While this is steep it’s not the steepest. It’s also a pretty constant 12-20% grade. You legs are also exhausted. This is about .75 miles of this as you wind around the mountain and eventually finish a top the summit in the field where we have a finish line set up!
CUTOFFS
The time limit for the event is 2 hours 15 minutes....no exceptions.
There will be a hard cutoff at the first overlook / Old heli pad of 1 hour 15 minutes. This is about 1.5 miles into the race. If you do not make this you will be turned around there. All subject to change. We want to keep everyone safe and happy, especially the local Ems!

If you do not make it to the heli pad in that time or the finish line in the overall time, you wll receive a DNF.
SAFETY
We HIGHLY recommend that you have grippy trail shoes especially if it has been raining or the trail is wet.Parts of this race are non technical or gravel dirt road but other sections are rock gardens. You can slip. This event is NOT recommend for those who are not in shape, elderly or pose as a fall risk. The event goes up the mountain one way however you must get yourself back down the mountain under your own power. If you live in a flat area we recommend that you hit the gym twice a week for 20-40 minutes on the stair master. This will help tremendously.
