Warning***The course is incredibly challenging to say the least. In 2 spots you will be on all fours for 20 feet climbing up some rocks on the actual trail. There will be no running for 95% of the participants on the way up. The first 2.5 miles is a 3300 ft climb. The winner does this climb in about 50 minutes and they are running. Most people take about 90 minutes to 2 hours to make the climb. That’s going up steep redlining climbing for that long. Then it flattens out into a really technical trail that’s not super runnable for .4 miles then it’s 4.1 miles down with 3400 ft down. It’s rocky and quad busting. Most people finish this whole race in 2.5-3 hours. That’s for 6.5 miles and an all out effort. If you train for this running roads or an easy climb then you’re gonna get rocked. If you’re into this challenge and the beauty then you’re gonna run this race every year for the rest of your life. If you’re not agile and can’t get up and down rock beds of loose baby head sized rocks then please don’t put yourself at risk. Once you start the race the only way out is to finish or turn around. ***
